Life's a Picnic...

life-picnic.jpg

With summer coming to an end, especially at home in Michigan, I am taking as much time as possible to enjoy it.  Summer is my absolute favorite season. I love the warmth, sunshine, and the outdoor activities. I like eating on patios, walking on trails, and biking to the evening’s destination. I love being able to do all of that in a simple, flowy dress. Dreaded are the days when I have to wear layers upon layers and still be cold! I would prefer to enjoy the lovely summer just a little longer…

There is so much to love about this season including the fresh fruits and veggies. My childhood memories revolve around juicy melon, sweet corn from the field across the street, and local blueberries that we picked from the patch! The best method for devouring these fresh goodies was to plop down in the yard and savor the moment.

Picnics are a perfect summer activity either on the farm or in the city. It is a lovely way to enjoy the fresh food and people in your life. A picnic can be as simple or complex as you would like it to be. It can be in your own backyard or at a unique destination with a view. The fare can be simple finger-foods, fresh veggies, or gourmet recipes. You can’t go wrong! The most important thing is to make sure you savor this summer.

Here are some easy treats that I enjoyed on my most recent picnic on Belle Isle, Detroit:

Campari®, Kumato, & Y.E.L.O.® Trio Roll

Herbed cream crease on a SUNSET® English cucumber coin topped with smoked salmon

Grilled melon wrapped in prosciutto

SUNSET® Y.E.L.O.®, feta, and watermelon picks with fresh lime and mint
